As you may remember, Harmony used to be an open-source software, meaning that it was totally free and everyone was free to take the source code and modify it. However, the contributions received were not enough and I still had to do the bulk of the work. As the donations are very small (total less than $40), I unfornunately can't keep up working without anything in return.
So I took the difficult but necessary decision to switch Harmony to a commercial model. It should allow me to spend more time on the project and take Harmony further, my main goal being to create a quality music player. However, to ensure that the project doesn't end up unmaintained, I guarantee that if Harmony doesn't receive updates (commits) for more than 6 months then I will open-source it back.
I hope you can all understand.
Vincent.
You can evaluate Harmony for free, but you need a license for continued use.
Buying a one-time license ($15) will give you access to the current version of Harmony, along with patches. For example, if you bought a license when 0.5 was out, the license will work with 0.5.1, 0.5.2, etc...
Additionnaly, you can subscribe for updates at $15/year. That's about a coffee per month. You are free to cancel anytime.
Coupon activated! 20% off first year of subscription.
No credit card? Pay with PayPal instead.
Remark: Coupons do not work with PayPal.
Licenses are per-user, so you can enjoy Harmony on as many computers and operating systems as you wish with your license.
The price might increase in the future.
This license model was greatly influenced by fman.io :)
